Interfaith Relations serves as the sponsoring organization of the Houston Area Amazing Faiths Project and is frequently called upon to advise and facilitate dialogue among faith leaders and communities. The department offers yearly Dinner Dialogues as well as Women?s Gatherings & Faith Tours.
Meals on Wheels for Greater Houston provides weekday lunch to more than 3~600 seniors~ provides a monthly 25-pound box of shelf-stable food to more than 1~750 seniors~ home delivered breakfast and weekend meals to approximately 450 of our most frail and isolated clients and pet food to about 250 clients.
Refugee Services welcomes more than 400 refugees each year who are fleeing persecution and oppression and have been given legal status to relocate to the US. IM resettles these refugees and fully integrates them in the Houston community within five to six months by providing housing~ food~ language classes~ job assistance and much more.
Office of Disaster of Preparedness & Response is our region?s channel for the faith community to prepare for and respond to emergencies and disasters. IM sponsors the Houston Interfaith Disaster Response Alliance (HIDRA)~ which is comprised of Houston's most significant faith disaster organizations. Additionally~ IM has a seat on Harris County's Joint Information Council (JIC) that is Houston's Disaster Office~ which plays an important role in coordinating Houston's faith communities.
